Reasons for trip

Relaxation

Somewhat apprehensively I booked two weeks in this platinum hotel on my own.
This hotel is unusual in that it offers a double room at little, or no, supplement for a single traveller. Infact, I was given a beautiful, large room overlooking the pools and sea with a generous balcony. Such a pleasant surprise as I’d wondered if I’d be overlooking a carpark, as I’ve heard that other solo travellers have experienced!
I was little daunted at first as, unusually I was told, I was the only single traveller that week on the Thomson coach. However, I needn’t have worried – the staff made sure that I was comfortable, even arranging for me to have a thick foam topper on my bed! The staff at this hotel really have earned the hotel it’s platinum service. Everywhere is squeaky clean and nothing is too much trouble.
The food is excellent with a very varied menu. Like many hotels, though, it is buffet service which doesn’t always lead to the most relaxing of meals.
Tip – ask to sit in the outside conservatory.semi closed in but the staff will light the patio heaters in the evening. Not many sit here as it’s further to walk to the buffet tables but so much more tranquil.
Tip – request a room overlooking the pools and sea. Some face the gardens, putting, tennis etc at the side. Whilst not unpleasant, the sea views are better. Ask for a room that gets the evening sun.
This hotel is just about perfect. To my mind, what would have made it perfect were if one of the pools were heated. Weather was very changeable with a chilly wind
Evening entertainment is tasteful, in a theatre on a lower ground floor and finished by 10.15pm!! Suited me just fine!
The hotel is very quiet in a very quiet safe location 3km outside Playa Blanca. Very pleasant paved path to Playa Blanca in one direction and another path to a deserted lighthouse in the other. Plenty of charming places to find a rock to sit and stare at the ocean!
Playa Flamingo is only 1km away and a safe sandy family beach.
Would I go again on my own or recommend it? If I needed a rest, Yes, most definitely!
