Relaxation

This hotel is right on the seafront of La Carihuela, a district of Torremolinos. It’s three star and my rating of it is the same. Our room faced the narrow shopping street that runs parallel to the seafront promenade and had a cute little balcony which was sunny in the afternoon. Although we were in a busy area, there was no noise at night (in November, La Carihuela is pretty quiet and civilised). We based ourselves here for five days of sunshine and as it is a budget hotel, were not expecting much. The beds were not particularly comfortable and the pillows were poor. The shower was hot and although the bathroom was small and dated, it was adequate. Wifi was good. There was no TV.
My main issue was the smell of cleaning chemicals, but reception arranged for our room to be cleaned with water only after I explained that I had asthma.

There is no communal area, but there is a nice terrace on the roof if you want a quiet place to read. There is no bar and no food, but breakfast is part of the deal and is taken at the café next door – just a croissant, coffee and jam, but OK.

Would I go again? No – five days here was too much – I think I must be turning into an accommodation snob as I was desperate for a swish bathroom, a comfy big bed and white fluffy towels by the end of our stay.
