The Hotel Maritim has a wonderful location as it is perched on the volcanic rocks overlooking the Atlantic Ocean just outside the village of Punta Brava and ten minutes by car from Puerto de la Cruz.
From the dining room you have open views over the sea where you can watch the local fishermen catching the fish which is sold to the local restaurants.
You can walk to the village in 5 minutes and enjoy the freshly cooked sea food in the good choice of restaurants.
We had breakfast included in our room rate which was buffet style with a very good selection of items from which to make your selection. I particularly enjoyed the fresh tropical fruits as being a vegetarian, it is sometimes difficult to find something suitable to eat.
We did not eat in the hotel restaurant in the evening as we thought that it was a little pricey at €30 so we went into Punta Brava to make our selection.
On the down side the hotel is quite old and dates from the 1960s and is multi storey. I prefer not to be above floor three as I don't like high rise buildings.
It was in fact very quiet as it was carpeted throughout. and we had a very restful stay.
The north of Tenerife is favoured by German tourists and the hotel was slanted towards the German guests as all the signs and notices were in German or Spanish with English not being readily used in the hotel or in the surrounding restaurants.
Punta Brava is also very close to Loro Parque which houses a marvellous collection of colouful parrots and has wonderful tropical gardens.
We were on a business trip so our stay was not part of a holiday but we enjoyed the experience and would return if we were in the area.
