Relaxation

My wife and I booked this hotel at the very last minute, as I was waiting for a hospital appointment, which we found out was going to be a couple of weeks later. We booked through Teletext Holidays, but as it was only the day before we were going to leave. We didn’t see the reviews until after we had booked. We found that airport transfers were quite expensive, so decided to hire a car online. This was probably a good idea, as it meant that we had a couple of very cheap days out, as the car hire was only £20 and the fuel used for the week was £35. We arrived at the hotel after midnight and were given our room key without any fuss. We were told that we could have a cold meal, as we had missed the dinner, but we asked if we could have lunch on our last day instead, which they agreed to. Our room was quite clean, but rather tired looking. It is only a 3* hotel, and the walls are quite thin, so any noisy neighbours can make life a misery. Other guests are pot luck, so no point in complaining. The bed was VERY firm, but when I asked about it, there was no alternative, so we ended up putting a couple of blankets underneath the sheets, to cushion it a little. Our room was cleaned and the towels changed daily, it was north facing, so we never got any direct sunlight. If you want to face another direction, ask before booking. When we found that the wash-basin was not draining properly, maintenance arrived within an hour to unblock it. Although many people complained about the food, we really could not see why, as there was always a reasonable variety and plenty of it. Those that complain about it should really either experiment with their food, or book a better, more expensive hotel. The hotel is only about 5 to 10 minutes walk away from the beach and the centre of town. It is quite an old hotel, but is a budget hotel, so we had a very inexpensive holiday. As I said before quite a few people were complaining, but too many people expect a five star hotel for the price of a two star (although, it is officially a 3*). We never had any problem at all with the staff and the housekeeping was exceptionally good. It could only be recommended for those on a budget, but I would advise them to take earplugs.
