Reasons for trip

Relaxation

We booked for a week's stay with Crystal Holidays despite mixed reviews on the internet, and requested a top floor double bedded-room with a lake view, which we got. The location directly overlooking the lake, and the flowered balcony was excellent as was the cleanliness of the room and the helpful housekeeping staff. On the positive side the evening dining was very good. We had booked for just breakfast but ate at the hotel as the food, especially their seafood, was superb. Unfortunately the breakfast 'buffet' left a lot to be desired as it was so sparse and certainly not up to the evening standard of cousine. The only saving grace was the very attentive and friendly waiter, Nowis.  Although pedestrianised we encountered very loud noise from outside nearly every night due to late night diners and drinkers, stag parties etc, once until 4am. Because of this we asked for a transfer to another quieter hotel off the front, within the travel company, and said we were prepared to pay extra to get a decent night's sleep as it was spoiling our holiday due to tiredness. Crystal were clearly not happy about this and wanted to charge us an extra £600 to stay at an equivalent hotel. When I queried the high surcharge I was told it included £356 'cancellation fee' due to vacating our room (which I reminded them was already paid for !). However, because of the priciple of not paying their price we stayed the week and endured the noise, and came back exhausted.
