We stayed here for two nights during our escorted tour of Costa Rica and were given a large suite with two queen size beds, seating area, fridge and coffee maker, extensive heavy wooden cupboards and drawers and a generous sized bathroom. Floor-length windows revealed far reaching views over the hotel's grounds. Although we were away from the hotel for most or our stay, whenever possible, we took advantage of the trails through the gardens for birdwatching and wildlife spotting. A beautiful blue-crowned Mot Mot was a regular visitor to the trees between the pool and restaurant, and a delightful little agouti scuttled about under the bushes near our room. Breakfasts were filling and wholesome, and it was a delight to have a different choice of menu in the cosy Fireside restaurant after days of chicken or fish, rice and beans, or Pizza. Staff were friendly and helpful. At dawn on our last day a small group of us took the short (20 minute for us fitties) uphill walk to the entrance of the Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve where we were rewarded by the sight of the Quetzel bird which had been noticeable by its absence during our daytime group tour the previous day. I was also able to spend time alone enjoying the sparkly humming birds at the feeding centre. As I left to make the journey back to the hotel, a group of white faced coati meandered through the car park.
