Approach down a lengthy wooded drive laid out by Sir Humphrey Repton with views of the River Tamar to the Victorian Gothic Endsleigh Hotel set in vast parkland & gardens. Built in 1810 for the 6th Duke of Bedford. There are a number of different garden areas, with a formal rose garden and Pergola with views across the valley and river. There are Wooded walks and a magical ravine garden. It is a romantic place to chill out. The passionate love affair began here between the Duchess of Bedford and Edwin Landseer, the Scottish artist who was 20 years her junior. The ravine garden has waterfalls, rockeries, giant Gunneria, Seqouia & other specimen trees, and paths with bridges to cross the streams, or sit and admire the spectacle.
