A truly wonderful and luxurious Hotel in the best possible location. Be sure to get a room with a lagoon view. We stayed in the 'old' wing, but also looked at rooms in the new (Excelsior) wing. Both sets of rooms were splendid. Contrary to advice offered by Kirker reps to book the new wing as the old wing was a bit 'tired and shabby', it was in fact excellent. The staff at the Hotel were helpful and on the basis of our experience, did not deserve some of the more critical reviews we have seen. The reviews commenting on the high prices charged at the Hotel Danieli were deserved. One Cuba Libra 19 Euros. Full Buffet Breakfast 98 Euros (yes – 98 Euros) One cup of Hot chocolate 10 Euros. Our booking included the full buffet breakfast. It was nice, but no better than the buffet breakfasts offered at other reasonable Hotels. Indeed, in some respects it was worse, for example- scrambled eggs were not hot, the pancakes and waffles were cold, limited selection of breads with those on offer not being particularly appetizing. So, a great experience to stay at the Danieli, but we were minded to eat and drink elsewhere even though anywhere in Venice is expensive. A pity, because slightly more reasonable prices would have resulted in us spending more time and more euros at the Danieli. Finally, full marks to Citalia. They made all the arrangements and ensured a most memorable visit to one of nthe most beautiful cities in the world. Despite the high prices, a trip to Venice should be on everyones 'bucket list'.
