The hotel is situated on the edge of the city but within easy walking distance of most attractions, including the sea front. The train and bus station are about fifteen minutes away on foot and there are a number of good and reasonably priced restaurants in the opposite direction, along the canal. Public transport is good and inexpensive.
The exterior of this hotel is not anything outstanding, but entering through the front door takes you into a comfortable and welcoming atmosphere. The décor is a little odd, being mixed standard hotel fare and modern, but this did not put us off. The room was very comfortable, clean and well furnished. It looked out onto a quiet street and had functioning air-con – essential at that time of year! Breakfast was the usual buffet, but every morning there was something different, whether it was hard boiled eggs instead of scrambled or different meats and cheeses. We only saw the other guests at breakfast and they were mostly adult, in various age brackets.
The staff were welcoming and helpful and mostly spoke good English. The proprietress was often in evidence and happy to chat with her guests.
We would go again as soon as the opportunity arises.
