Personal / family celebration

I recently visited my friend in Falkirk,Scotland and we had booked The Cladhan Hotel. It is an older building first impressions of the outside was not favourable. But as my mum used to say never judge a book by the cover. The staff at reception was so friendly and welcoming. I had taken my granddaughter with me. We went to our room and on entering was greeted by two large double beds plenty wardrobes a dressing table and a lovely bathroom all very clean. Only complaint was the curtains didn’t have enough hooks so curtain kept coming off the end. My granddaughter and myself had booked for supper. The menu was really good and kids had their menu. My meal was £10 for 2 courses I had a chicken salad starter then gammon steak chips and peas. The gammon steak filled the plate all well cooked and hot. My granddaughter had chicken strip peas and chips which she said was delicious and ice cream choc sauce she also got a soft drink included in the price. The hotel is a short walk into the centre of Falkirk and is ideal to visit Falkirk Wheel and The Kelpies. If you wish to go further it’s ideal for Edinburgh and Stirling. All I can say is for £59 it was a fantastic place to stay would certainly recommend it staff were all friendly and they had three birthday parties in the hotel at suppertime and we never waited for our food which arrived hot and with a smile. Nothing was too much for the staff. They have rooms at the rear of the hotel which are recently upgraded so would be suitable for people who cant manage stairs up to the first floor. If you are looking for a decent hotel and friendly staff and good food at great price. Then I would say come here. The room we had 30 people would have fitted in no problem the rooms at the back are smaller on the ground floor more suitable for single travellers. I could manage to step into the bath for the shower no problem as some baths are too high up. So give it a go if you visit Scotland.
