A great base for visiting Barcelona, perfectly situated just off Las Ramblas. Staff were so helpful – giving us maps, pointing us to local attractions, bars, restaurants, directions (including getting the best from the Metro), calling the transfer company to fix a problem. The facilities were clean and modern – not luxurious, but of a very good standard given the very reasonable price. Even after we had checked out they took good care of us and secured our luggage for the best part of a day whilst we roamed. We would certainly book here again. Use of the terrace (a roof area on the 6th floor) was included – sun-loungers, astro turf and a very comfortable jacuzzi (we used it one January evening – it was delightful). The hotel is situated on Tallers – a small, mainly pedestrian street filled with little independent shops and loads of bars and restaurants. As you exit the hotel, turn right and you’re quickly at number 78 – very good food. The tapas in the food market on La Rambla is rather expensive – twice the price of the ones we tried on Pg Gracia (despite the adjacent boutiques – Dolce & Gabbana, Prada, Versace, Cartier, etc).
Advice: Buy a ‘T10’ Metro ticket – for 10 euros, ten trips – it’s a great underground system.
NOTE: We had a dreadful experience with our ‘private transfer’, booked through Travel Republic and provided by ‘2Travel’ – the driver was late, had the wrong place for the pickup (we had to hunt him down in the airport), and deposited us without ceremony (or explanation) in the middle of Barcelona, nowhere near the hotel and without directions. It was massively over-priced – a taxi would have been far cheaper, or we could have got to the hotel from the airport via the Metro quite easily, and for less than a 10th of the price.
