We travelled with Icelandair on a weekend break (Saturday-Tuesday) from London Heathrow. This was their Northern Lights package including 3 nights at the Cabin Hotel in Reykjavik. All the arrangements worked out well and we had a fantastic display of the Northern Lights on the last night just a few miles outside the city. The hotel bedrooms are very much what the name suggests – rather similar to ship's 2 berth cabin. Thus, rather small but nonetheless quite comfortable. TV (some English channels) and a well fitted shower room with plenty of free Icelandic hot water! The hotel restaurant do an excellent all-day buffet with one hot dish; all inclusive at about £7.50. We did the Golden Circle Tour on one day (geysers & waterfalls) and bought a Welcome Pass on another (which includes all museums, buses, a boat trip to the John Lennon Peace Tower, & the locally heated swimming pool near the hotel.) Well worth doing; Iceland is nowhere near as expensive as many suggest.
