Relaxation

We stayed for 2 nights at this hotel which is located about 15-20 minutes walk from downtown Reykjavik. Like most buildings in the city, it is modern and functional rather than characterful in a fairly non-descript part of town. The rooms are moderate size, nothing special but tick the boxes.

The location is around 3-4 minutes' walk from the sea and there's a nice coast path which you can walk along to get to the centre. This is bracing but very enjoyable. Alternatively there's a bus stop within a minute's walk of the hotel.

The excursion companies pick up from the door of the hotel which makes it all very easy when booking tours.

There's a nice restaurant on the 7th floor for breakfast (average buffet) which has good views and is very light and bright.

All in all, I would recommend this hotel for a reasonably priced base for a short stay. Anyone wanting to be in the heart of the action should choose one of the more central hotels as it's a long walk back in the early hours. If your aim is to have a clean and comfortable place to sleep and from which to explore, the Hotel Cabin is as good a hotel as any.
