We travelled with friends and after using Travel Advisor booked the Britania Hotel. We had good flights with Easy Jet and transport between airport and hotel were with Resort Hopper (used before – very good) some delay on roads to hotel but caused by an accident. The Britania Hotel opened it's doors in 1944 as the Hotel Imperio, designed as a Boutique hotel. Changes were made in the years that followed but in the 1980's the original Art Deco decoratoration was restored. The hotel is small but the rooms are great, we stayed on the second floor and had an entrance hall with tea and coffee making facilities. The large bathroom entrance is off this lobby and there is also the facility for adjoined rooms through a door here if you have a larger family. You enter the bedroom through a glass panelled door. The bedroom is large, beautifully decorated with plenty of storage room (wardrobe and chest of draws plus a dressing table). There is air conditioning and plenty of lights, bed was very comfy with adequate pillows and covers. Flooring was cork tiles in keeping with the Art Deco theme. The bar and entrance have parquet flooring beautifully laid with marble walls and chandeliers. There is painted artwork on the walls which I understand are the originals. The hotel staff were exceptional, nothing was too much bother and spent time helping us with directions and information about the area. The hotel ambience made our stay but Lisbon as a City is beautiful with so much to see. We plan to return next year.
