Relaxation

The hotel was a joy to enter for the first time with its clean reflective image and large windows overlooking the pool area. This spacious reception area had lots of comfortable sofa seating with stairs down to the restaurant and ground floor. There were lifts available to all floors and ramps as well as steps outside. We were allocated a twin room on the first floor which was very spacious with large twin beds, a sofa, armchair, coffee table and plenty of luggage and wardrobe space. Lots of mirrors with dual aspects, a bathroom with shower, wc and bidet and a separate area with washbasin with full length marble top. Very functional, clean, cool and elegant.
There were sliding patio doors on to a large balcony with comfortable chairs and a table which overlooked the swimming pool. The building wrapped around 3 sides of the pool with the sea to the south and so each room had a sunny aspect at some time during the day.

The hotel itself was built in a Moroccan style with warm brick, tile and arches and with internal stairway squares. The gardens were beautifully kept with Mediterranean and African themed plants and trees. The pool was a stunning shape and lit at night.

Meals were all buffet style, no seating plan, with plenty of choice. There were criticisms that the food was not always hot enough, some shellfish dishes were ‘sandy’ and some meats, particularly veal were tough and chewy. However, there was no problem with leaving anything that was not to your taste and re-serving yourself with something else as the quantity and variety was always good.

There was a programme of sporting entertainment at the hotel in the form of keep fit, archery, rifle shooting, petanque, table tennis, etc. and musical entertainment in the bar most evenings.

Hotel facilities included a Wellness centre, with indoor pool, sauna, Turkish bath and a range of treatments.

There was direct access to the beach across a private boardwalk and to the right of this walkway stretched the Los Enebrales nature park which was a 3km area of pine forest and sand dunes. Great for bird watching and privacy of the hotel.

A thoroughly enjoyable holiday in a lesser known area of Spain.
