The Hotel Atarazanas is the perfect place for a base to explore Malaga, especially if you just want a comfy bed, a clean hotel and a central location. The hotel is described as boutique, and yes, the décor is quite quirky (our bathroom was midnight blue). It’s a very old building with traditional full length shutters at the window, so you really feel you are in the heart of the city. The location is right opposite the Atarazanas Market – great for photographers and foodies alike. It’s fairly cheap to stay. Breakfast is available at a supplement, but with so many fantastic cafes on your doorstep, I wouldn’t bother. It’s only a ten minute walk to the main shopping street, so take your credit card! There is no food on offer in the evening and no bar, but two minutes walk and your spoilt for choice with bars and restaurants. It’s just ten minutes walk from the station so, if like us, you take the train, it’s no too far to haul your luggage.
