I’ve no idea why Bulgaria, but we did enjoy it. We went on a package which was all inclusive and having never done that before we were a bit wary thinking we would eat and drink too much!! We go to a lot of Festivals (my partner is a singer) which are quite exhausting somtimes so I just wanted a quieter time with no dashing about and sleeping in camper vans!
We flew to Varna and coach took us to Albena, bit of a trek as they dropped off lots of others at various hotels (luckily they didn’t do that coming home, a much quicker journey) to the hotel called Arabella. We had a nice room looking out to sea and comfortable. A really nice swimming pool with lots of available seats plus seats and umbrellas on the beach for the hotel guests.
Food was obviously self service but no mad rush and not many people about it seemed so quite relaxed and plenty of choice plus free wine or whatever took your fancy depending on the time of day. Coffee, Brandy and anything and everything was available so quite nice not to have to spend loads.
The Rep from the Company, Thomas Cook, came to see us and chat and see if we wanted to go on any trip (as they do) and we actuatty fancied the trip on a boat with a picnic – a really lovely day out it was too. Also we went to Varna for a look around and a wine tasting. That was a bit too expensive but quite pleasant.
Went on a few walks. Where we were was quiet but further along the coast was a bit manic and tourist oriented.
We enjoyed our stay of a week, but probably wont go again.
