I have recently been on a river cruise holiday break with Grand UK “Holland in Bloom” 5 days staying on the Princes Christina .The Journey was by coach all the way to Amsterdam. The ship was moored outside Amsterdam within east reach by tram car, or you could walk. The ship was nice clean, the cabin I had was very small. The food was very nice but not much of a choice entertainment was not very good, perhaps some quizzes or a singer would have been good. They did have a guy playing the keyboard but his singing voice was terrible more like Eurovision audition.
We were told by Tour guide that the water was not really good to drink on the ship it was ok if you were cleaning your teeth or just taken pills. She said bottle water was available to purchase on the coach so we did buy some 50p a bottle and not to take into restaurant. When we went for lunch or dinner jugs of water were on the tables and people were drinking it so did we and we were fine, now have extra bottles of water.
The trips were good and some really nice ports of call along the route. The main visit was to the bulb fields at Keukenhof. The day we went it was so busy with people and loads of coaches. We did not get to see everything, you really need a couple of days to visit. Places we went to were Enkhuizen and Hoon, on the last day we went on a canal trip in Amsterdam city centre which was very nice, we had 2 hours to kill time afterwards. The streets of Amsterdam were manic very busy full of bikes going each way trams coming along to many people we were glad to leave on the coach. A great trip but very tiring. Not a trip for people with mobility problems. No lift on the ship plenty of stairs and a chair stair lift. So think twice before you book this type of trip.
