Reasons for trip

Stayed here with husband and teenage daughter. Although over 16 she could be counted as a child here but we booked a separate room for her. The rooms were both very clean. The beds were comfortable. Double rooms have a sofa bed and are clearly the family rooms, twin rooms have a single chair – book a double if you want a sofa to sit on. Reasonably well equipped with a hair dyer, kettle and nice bedside light for reading in bed. Pillows say either soft or hard but there didn't really seem to be much difference. Thermostat can only be set between 18 and 25 and had been set to max, we found the rooms uncomfortably warm and had no opening window. Changing the setting reduced the temperature to something more conducive to a good night's sleep. Soap dispensers were rather stiff, if your hands are arthritic this could be a problem. Shower only, no bath.

The rooms were quiet apart from a hum. This may have been the air conditioning or fans on the nearby roof. The ear plugs I need for my husband's snoring cut this out and I slept well.

Breakfast has a reasonable selection. As food was not always replaced promptly the selection varied with some very large blueberry muffins appearing. There are small plates for hot food – no bacon but sausages, scrambled egg, baked beans and hash browns. Nice choice of herbal teas. Yoghurt and fruit available too.

Not the nicest area but the Asda next door is open 24 hours if you forget anything. Grandchildren would appreciate the instore McDonalds. Parking is terrible, you may need to park in the Asda carpark. Good value at advanced booking rates, especially if you have children/grandchildren with you.
