We were flying from Manchester airport on an early morning 6.00am flight so chose this hotel for convenience. Actually, not a good choice! It is not close enough to the airport and their ‘courtesy bus’ to the airport didn’t leave until 4.00am so was not helpful as we were warned of long delays getting through to departures. This was £3 each, the same as the taxi fare from the rail station so not much help really. There was no facility to have a take-away continental-style breakfast like some hotels nearby, as they do not serve food until 6.00am – again, a bit late as most people only stay because of an early flight in the morning. The room was very nice and reasonable price at £62 for two people. The restaurant was very expensive, my dish was Moroccan spiced salmon fillet with chilli and apricot cous cous at £12.50. Normally, I will plough my way through the food but I had to complain in the end as I would defy anyone to find any trace of chilli or apricots in the cous cous – I even offered the manager to taste it for himself! Although service was very slow and it took him a while to arrive, the manager did deal with the complaint very well offering me a dessert, which I declined, or a glass of wine which I accepted. So, good service to put it right and it does depend what you order as other dishes looked fine. Overall, we would not use it again and would go back to Bewleys which is nearer the rail station and airport, but it may be different for people who are arriving by car. Disability note: there are lifts but you have to open a heavy door to then get to lift doors.
