Located at the top end of West Nile Street, on the edge of the town centre, this HiX is handy for Buchanan Bus Station, Queen Street Railway/Buchanan Street underground (the ‘clockwork orange’) and the main shopping areas of Buchanan Galleries, Buchanan Street, Sauchiehall Street and surrounds. Theatre Royal and Glasgow Concert Hall are also just minutes walk from the hotel (so don't confuse this 'Theatreland' hotel with the other Holiday Inn Theatreland further west – handier for Kings Theatre). Price is good if you take advantage of the included breakfast, which might well cost around £8 or so in other similar levels of hotel, and includes a range of fruit juices/fruit; cereals; bread rolls & croissants; yoghurts; cheese; with the hot selecting being limited to scrambled egg, sausage, baked beans and toast. Parking costs £12 in the adjacent NCP car park. Room was clean and comfortable but the outlook from all sides is urban/road, so don’t choose it for outlook . Vacating the room is normally 11.00, but a £10 extra payment will get you an extension ‘till 13.00hrs Di Maggio’s and La Bonne Auberge are both alongside for evening meals, otherwise walk to the Buchanan Street/Sauchiehall Street area. Arriving just before midnight and leaving after breakfast, I didn’t get a chance to try either restaurant. Note that the lift (elevator) is card operated, both up and down – so make sure you get enough cards for your party!
