Do not be deceived by the reference to Crawley – it is at least a mile outside the town and really viewed as a Gatwick Airport hotel. The town map outside the rail station also did not make it look that far away, so it was a longer walk than anticipated especially dragging a small case in the rain.
However, it is a typical Holiday Inn Express hotel with a lounge bar and food vending machines, this area also where breakfast is served. Standard breakfast, self-service hot food and cereals with plenty of coffee and tea. There is a Harvester restaurant on the site, so you can get a good range of hot foods until quite late in the evening as there is no restaurant in the Holiday Inn itself.
Room comfortable, very hot but I was able to turn the air condition/heating off quite easily, and a modern bathroom as you would expect. The only problem I had was that this was one of the stormiest nights we have had in UK and, being on the top floor, I could hear something squeaky outside on the roof for the whole night! Clearly not the fault of the hotel, and otherwise everything was as you would expect from this chain, although I would not choose it if I have to visit Crawley again.
