Usually when I visit Saskatoon I stay in a hotel by the river. It is a great location for downtown restaurants and walks along the river and across to the Broadway area, a favourite neighbourhood of mine. Recently however I was there on business and was booked into a hotel on the edge of downtown near to where my meeting was the next day. The Holiday Inn and Suites is located right next to the railway tracks so I was dubious as to whether I would get a good night’s sleep. However, my doubts were unfounded. Even though my room was on the same side as the railway tracks, I did not hear it at all throughout the night. The bed was very comfortable and the room had all the required amenities: large colour television, telephone, small fridge, coffee and tea making facilities, iron and board, toiletries, hair dryer, makeup removing cloths, and chocolates by the bed. The accommodation included breakfast which had all the usual toast and muffins, cereals, juice and coffee, fresh pancakes, eggs, bacon and sausage, yogurt and lots of fresh fruit including bananas, kiwis, oranges and apples. There are always apples and oranges available in the lobby as well as water and coffee/tea. Every table in the breakfast area had newspapers for your morning reading. The hotel also has an indoor pool and a fitness centre.
