The big plus about this hotel is that it is situated right on the River Thames opposite Canary Wharf in the regenerated docklands area of East London. Fabulous views and the river is the only way to travel! The Hilton's own ferry (free!) takes guests across the water to Canary Wharf, to a stop on the Thames Clippers route. This is ideal for travelling westwards into the centre of London, or east towards the O2 and other attractions. Fantastic for those like us who don't particularly like travelling by tube! The hotel itself is an interesting building as it was once one of the docklands wharves. It has obviously been converted, and the rooms at the front have great views onto the river and Canary Wharf. The best rooms for this would seem to be the suites or the Hilton Deluxe Plus rooms, such as the one we booked. Although our room was very nice, we did find a couple of problems with the plumbing and the general condition of the bathroom, which was disappointing. We had an evening meal in the hotel restaurant, which – although not widely advertised – was cheaper if booked in advance at Reception. We also had breakfast there, and both meals were excellent although when the hotel is busy guests need to queue up for a table, especially in the mornings. This was the fourth time we had stayed at the hotel as we like it very much. The staff are very helpful and willing to address any problems with their full attention.
