The Lake Como Hilton is a beautiful hotel with fantastic views across Lake Como. Como San Giovanni train station is a short taxi ride away. The ferry terminal just a ten-minute walk. It’s a perfect location.

We took a train from Milan Central Station to Como San Giovanni (7.20 Euros per person in 1st Class) that took just 45 minutes. We’d previously stayed at the Hilton Milan. A taxi from Como San Giovanni to the Hilton Lake Como was less than 10 Euros.

Check in was friendly and professional. We had to provide proof of Covid vaccination. As Hilton Diamond, we were upgraded to a beautifully-appointed superior room with a view to the Lake. There were the usual safe, bathrobes, slippers, tea/coffee facilities and two complimentary bottles of water that were replenished each day.

The bathroom was clean, modern and had both a bath and separate shower.

There are higher floors at the back of the hotel, some rooms with small balconies, but many face the inner courtyard. We were happy with our view.

We wanted to visit the rooftop pool and bar. There isn’t an executive lounge and the indoor pool/spa has a ridiculously high daily charge – nor is it free for Hilton Diamond.

The route to roof took us through the lobby lounge. And we took an elevator to the roof terrace. The infinity pool and views were spectacular.

There are seats at the front of the bar/restaurant – all with amazing views. These seats also overlook the terrace of what I assume is the most expensive suite.

Food and drinks are at Lake Como prices, but well worth it for view. A snack box is offered intermittently – I could never work out why it sometimes appeared and sometimes not.

The pool was heated and we were able to swim even when the weather was cooler. There was no issue with walking through the hotel in bathrobes and slippers to and from the pool.

Breakfast was well organised with both a delicious buffet and a la carte options without additional charge. Table service for a la carte, coffee, water and juices.

Masks were required when visiting the cold and hot buffets and there were plenty of sanitising stations.

We were able to arrange a late checkout and the hotel also reserved us a reasonably-priced taxi.

We really enjoyed our stay at the Hilton Lake Como and I’d recommend this hotel. I’m surprised that it isn’t a Waldorf Astoria as it could easily meet the criteria.
