We picked the Blackpool Hilton as a convenient base for our annual trip to see Status Quo in concert. Despite its ugly facade, inside the hotel was comfortable and pretty good looking. Our room on the 3rd floor overlooked the rather wet and windy seafront (most rooms have a sea view). The room was absolutely fine and the smellies perfectly acceptable. The first thing we noticed about the hotel was the service. The staff in reception and in the bar were first class and couldn't do enough for you. We had a bar meal on night one which wasn't exceptional and was overpriced. However, on night two we opted for the carvery three course deal which was great value for money. There was a huge choice of food and it was all good. Breakfast was excellent too (sausages especially!). The hotel has a pool, sauna and steam room. As the weather was appalling, we went for a dip in the pool followed by a sauna. Have to say, the pool was a little chilly for my liking. There is free wifi in the bar, although not in the bedrooms which is a shame. On night two there was a singer in the bar which added to the atmosphere. The hotel is about 5 mins in a taxi to the town centre or you can take a tram as we did for novelty value. If it hadn't been lashing with rain it's easy walking distance. Overall we had a great time and will probably return next time we are going to a concert at the Winter Gardens.
