I came here with our 7 year old grandson thinking we would spend an hour at most here – we spent the whole morning and even then he was reluctant to leave. The museum concentrates on life in Hertford during the past and therefore makes it interesting to think about normal everyday life rather than that of the very wealthy which some museums seem to prioritise.
There is a small knot garden and an exhibition space with changing exhibits. There are often organised activities for children during weekend/school holidays.
The museum was refurbished fairly recently and this shows in the way the exhibits are displayed. There is also a good website www.hertfordmuseum.org
There is no charge (except a small amount for special children's activities).
The museum is in the town centre and there is no parking other than in the town car parks.
