Went on a 2 hour adventure “Walking with Alpacas” last week. Great experience.
We met at their Otterbourne site, where chalk streams meander along an ancient river bed. Hensting Alpacas own 12 acres of grasslands alongside the Itchen Navigation channel. We started at 10.00am with an interesting talk on the keeping and breeding of alpacas. Then a number of the alpacas had head collars put on them and we took them for an hour plus walk. 1 alpaca to 2 people. You get a chance to swap alpacas. They are beautiful animals and quite gentle and not at all hard to control and they walk quite slowly. If you are lucky you might well spot otters or king fishers as well. Wear sensible walking shoes or boots. The day we went there were only 4 of us that morning, but we were told weekends are far busier (particularly school holidays). To book call 02380 602080.
