Reasons for trip

This is of great interest being the display of the oldest warship still afloat. The square rigger has been sensitively restored but also been made accessible for disabled who can use a small lift to get to the lower decks. you can still climb the steep steps if you want, with care. the ship is in a quay with beautiful buildings of the same period( not the originals) around the three sides of the quay. Inside these are displayed rooms with figures and sounds of the time, these characters giving the stories of their lives. The guides are good . I joined a school trip to eavesdrop and the teacher/guide was excellent. Lots of response from the children. oohs and aahs and sounds of disgust! Plenty of places for children to play games and a small ship on dry land for them to play in. There is a café ,not open on the Monday that we went, but we found a snack on the other old ship there, an old paddle steamer Humber ferry .Also a museum but did not have time to see that. Well worth the journey and most unexpected. I believe that the Historic Dockyards will be taking these over this year so may be better promoted then
