Hafod Wen perches on a hillside, just a short distance outside Harlech, with fabulous views of the sea and coastline. The house dates from 1904 and, with the adjoining self-contained flat, can very comfortably accommodate up to 9 adults. The property is very well maintained, and the owners, who live on site, manage the role of hosts beautifully – being helpful but never intrusive.
The house is surrounded by well-tended grounds of 8 acres that comprise everything from a bowling green to a market garden, with complete freedom to roam.
The town of Harlech is within walking distance and the area offers plenty of other places and activities to suit all ages and interests, from beautiful beaches, to steam railways and historical sights. There are also some good restaurants in the area as an alternative from self-catering.
The week we spent at Hafod Wen was hugely enjoyable and definitely worth a repeat visit.
