Travelled by train to Lourdes with my father (aged 89). We had requested a room with a walk in shower but the agents hadn't done this. The receptionist did a little 'juggling' and we had our shower room. The hotel is very traditional and has been run by the same family for many years. It had recently been refurbished and the room was newly decorated with a brand new bathroom (shower) and loo. The beds were very comfortable and the view from the room's balcony was magnificent – the Pyrenees in the distance, the sanctuary straight ahead and the river and weir just beyond the pretty gardens, with the lovely sound of waterfalls (from the weir). The staff were really helpful and acquired a wheelchair for my father's use. The two restaurants were very good and breakfast was a buffet style. We were very near centre of town so within walking distance but we were on a hill so dad had to walk down and up as I was unable to push the wheelchair on the incline (he can walk but not long distances)! The only improvement I would make here is the lifts which were very slow and old-fashioned – but maybe they were next on the list for refurbishment!!
