My husband and I stayed for 5 nights at the Grand Melia Victoria hotel in Palma de Mallorca in May and were delighted with our stay. The staff were welcoming and helpful (particularly Pedro who went out of his way to help us) and the accommodation was superb. We did not lack for anything. On arrival we were given a welcoming glass of champagne, plus chocolates; and each night we found a chocolate on our pillows. A lovely touch!
The room was spacious and comfortable with a balcony, safe deposit box, large TV with many channels to choose from, and an excellent bathroom with all facilities including bidet, and generous toiletries which were renewed daily.
The breakfasts were superb and we were spoiled for choice with all the cooked options; cereals; breads; cakes; fruit; cold meats, cheeses etc. In fact there was so much choice that one could eat enough to last until the evening! One evening we decided to have a bar meal so that we could watch the Manchester United vs Barcelona football match. We both chose a Farmer’s Sandwich, which was more than enough – in fact my husband said that one of them would have fed an entire farming community (a slight exaggeration!).
The pool was delightful and not too cold, and the attendant extremely polite, friendly and helpful, as indeed were all the staff throughout the hotel.
The only problem we had was with the very hi-tech control panel next to the bed which operated all the lights, curtains, air conditioning etc. A bit difficult for senior technophobes like ourselves! This sometimes took some getting used to, but I think we mastered it in the end!
I would love to stay at the Grand Melia Victoria again, given the opportunity and would certainly recommend it most highly. It was not the cheapest option, but was definitely worth the extra money.
