This hotel is designed for all ages with a variety of tastes. It is most palatial and comfortable with rooms that are a very good size. The pool is enormous and travels the length of this huge hotel. They have wisely planned areas which are quiet and areas which will appeal to those who like to have background music throughout the day. The beautiful bay sits to the front of the complex and the private beach is a magnet to both sunbathers and holidaymakers who just like to stroll along the sea front each day. Although the hotel has many steps, they have ensured that there are plenty of lifts on each floor for people who are not as mobile as others.

Evening entertainment is again well thought out. Your evenings can be as quiet or as lively as you wish. Our pattern was to have a pre-dinner drink outside at the balcony bar and then move on to a lovely evening meal, either at the buffet restaurant or in one of the four á la cartes. After this we would sit outside the lobby bar and listen to light music such as a piano singer. Later the outside entertainment begins in the area to the left of the hotel where you have live shows which really are excellent. To reach this area there are no lifts, but around 30 steps to climb. At 11pm the show finishes, and for most of us, we were happy to go to our beds. For the younger people or those who wanted later entertainment, there was a sports bar, karaoke bar and disco until 2.00am. The area is away from the majority of rooms and the hotel, so peace reigns at a sensible hour.

Jamaica is a most lovely Island and should be seen. There are many excursions available, but we stuck with our travel company. We did meet a lot of people who hired private taxis and guides and all seemed pleased with their days out. These can be hired at the hotel. My husband and I did worry a little about going to Dunns River Falls as we both suffer from bad backs occasionally. I am glad we decided to give it a go and anyone hesitating should at least go and visit and make up you mind when there. The falls have a good many guides who will go up with you and they are very helpful. You can avoid parts of the waterfall which look particularly fast and furious and there will always be a pair of strong arms assisting you. At any part of the falls you can move out and onto to a safe pathway.

This was such a memorable holiday and staying at this hotel was just the icing on the cake. For the mature traveler who would like to visit Jamaica, try this accommodation. This is a large hotel, but not all nice things have to come in small packages!
