Whilst visiting Bath, we noticed “Scoffs”, situated close to the centre, and also to the river. We were attracted to it because it was full of character, seemed very reasonable on the price front, and had a wide variety of food.
We studied the menu, and decided on a crab sandwich with a small salad for myself, and a Bath lamb pasty, chips and coleslaw for my husband. We also ordered Americanos for drinks.
The cafe had lots of possibilities for seating. We opted to go up two flights of stairs, to be rewarded with wonderful views across Bath. You could however sit on the ground floor, if climbing the stairs was a problem.
The food was quickly prepared. My husband enjoyed his pasty, which was unusual, in having broad beans with the lamb filling. His chips were lovely and crispy,( I helped myself to some! ) but his coleslaw contained too much mayonnaise. My crab sandwich was also a bit disappointing due to too much mayonnaise again!
There were lots of other food options including pate, pies, various sandwiches/ baguettes, etc.
The view I think , made the meal for us, rather than the food. Had we just had cake and coffee we might have been happier!
