The Treetop Adventure is probably something we would all have loved to do as children, but as it didn’t exist we enjoyed climbing trees.
It is a physically challenging activity, I ached in every muscle of my body the following day…but worth every ache.
It is a series of 5 adventures, each one getting progressively higher, each one ending with a zipline to the ground.
There are ladders to climb (again, each one getting longer in order to reach the starting height), a series of wobbly “bridges”, high wires and Tarzan swings into a rope net which you then have to climb up.
At all times you are in your harness, you just have to remember to clip yourself in correctly before starting any of the activities; it is very much a question of personal responsibility. This becomes second nature after the instructions by one of the guides.
You need to wear clothes that you don’t mind getting dirty as you usually end up on your bottom on the ziplines! Jeans are probably the most sensible.
You also need to wear trainers. Gloves are useful for the Tarzan nets as climbing up them can be hard on hands.
Our group was quite mixed in age, the youngest being a tall 12 year old the oldest was me, at 70 (it was my birthday party BBQ) with a variety of ages between.
As this Go Ape is in the Itchen Valley Country Park, the surroundings are quite beautiful even if you don’t want to take part in the activity.
