Reasons for trip

Personal / family celebration

Situated in a quiet area of the city on the banks of the River Ness, the Glenmoriston provides comfortable accommodation, even in their standard rooms. If you want a larger, more palatial room with a view over the river these are also available at various supplements. The hotel has a bar and two restaurants that are also popular with locals; a short order brasserie and a fine dining restaurant. We ate in the short order brasserie and the food was pretty good but the service slow. Breakfast offered a reasonable range of cereals, fruits, yoghurts etc., followed by a choice of Scottish cooked breakfasts. However, when my poached eggs arrived minus toast I was pointed in the direction of the DIY toast maker. Not what you expect for a 4* hotel and something I haven't experienced on my previous stays at this hotel. Reasonably priced, good quality, hotels in Inverness have been a bit thin on the ground over the years I have been staying there but some new ones have started up and I may be tempted to stay elsewhere in future, unless the Glenmoriston scraps the DIY toaster and ups their service levels.
