Reasons for trip

Just to put things into perspective, a taxi from Pefkos to the ancient town of Lindos takes about 10 minutes along a winding road and costs 8 Euros, whilst a local bus takes about half an hour along the same winding road and costs a couple of Euros. You can get a taxi any time day or night, you can get a bus as per the timetable, which works on GMT ie: Greek Maybe Time but you can only get the Glass Bottom Boat twice a day at 10am or 11.30pm and it costs 16 Euros one way, so, it's not the most frequent nor the quickest nor the cheapest way to Lindos but it's by far the most entertaining. We walked down towards the beach from the main street following the many signs to the Glass Bottom Boat until we came across a small house with a little girl and a lady outside. "Do you want the Boat?" she enquired she then told us that we had missed the 10am (as it was 9.55 we were a bit surprised) "It was full so it went", so we bought our one way tickets for the 11.30 sailing and then walked back the way we had come for a coffee and a bite to eat. At 11 we made our way back down and waited amongst all the other passengers (It was a wise decision to buy our tickets when we did). AT 11.30 the boat arrived and we all piled on, and off we went. The skipper gave a running commentary of what we could see on the shore , the resort of Pefkos (where we had all come from). We were all snapping away when he stopped the boat and pointed out the villa of Pink Floyd star David Gilmour. This was where he came into his own with a well practised comedy routine that involved his guitar and a Floyd song blaring out, this was the first of several "stop and laugh" interludes on our hour journey. He pulled alongside "Navarone" Bay where the Guns of Navarone had been filmed and then, as we moved on, the Acropolis of Lindos came into view – what a sight. We pulled into St Pauls Bay (a favourite for weddings) and the carried on into Lindos Bay. Oh, I forgot to mention that the Boat has a glass bottom so there were plenty of pauses to look at the fish. The journey took just over an hour (without the pauses and the cabaret breaks it takes half of that) but it was a very entertaining journey for 16 Euros. You don't have to get off at Lindos, you can choose the hour and half cruise for a few Euros more (which I presume ends up back at Pefkos). If you bought a return ticket you are picked up at 4pm (giving you time lunch and a bit of sightseeing). There is also the option, for just over 20 Euros, of a 2 hour cruise leaving Pefkos at 1pm – 2 hours of sailing, sight seeing and swimming, includes a couple of drinks (beer, water & soft drinks). Not the quickest journey but the best.
