This hotel is just a few minutes’ walk from the Barrow in Furness rail station so perfect if you need a base to explore from, especially some pretty harbour villages along the route from Lancaster. I stayed one night as I was working and booked it through booking.com as usual – £79 room only payable when you stay not in advance.
It is a beautiful old building and I was surprised it was a Wetherspoon’s hotel. I only realised it when I saw the pub name and the signs and followed the building to the hotel entrance at the far end. The hotel has been recently refurbished, modern fittings, comfy bed, and lots of art works on the walls. Staff are friendly and despite being above the large pub premises, the room was very quiet. It is very convenient for dinner and breakfast in the pub, of course, with standard Wetherspoon’s menu, prices and sympathetically-renovated surroundings. I would definitely recommend it and will certainly look at other Wetherspoon hotels in the future.
