Our first port of call in Port Isaac was at “Fresh From the Sea”:http://www.freshfromthesea.co.uk for fresh crab sandwiches; one of the food must haves on our list for Cornwall. Though it wasn’t quite lunch time yet we decided to seize the opportunity as this was our fourth day in Cornwall and we had learned that the crab sells out quickly and we didn’t want to miss out. This café and shop is a very small place with only a few tables inside and out and we ate alfresco. We ordered our sandwiches (£8.50 each) and coffees inside and the very friendly staff brought them out to us when they were ready. The crab was fresh and delicious on fresh wholemeal bread. The sandwiches and coffees set us up for a few hours of exploring this lovely town. One of the owners catches the crabs and lobsters himself in his boat the Mary D, part of the responsible fishing scheme in North Cornwall. If you’re not hungry you can make your selection of fresh fish and take it home for later, dressed or whole.
