Imagine a hotel which gives the finest service, constantly monitored but which doesn’t open in the holidays!
That’s right, Foxes Hotel in Minehead, Somerset is that hotel. It’s not open to book at Easter or Christmas. It closes for weeks on end in the summer but it is an amazing hotel to visit.
The hotel is situated on the Promenade in with stumming views from all front facing rooms out across the coast. Central to the town on Minehead, a quaint Victorian seaside town. Diagonally across a crossroads is the station for the West Somerset Railway with its regular journeys by steam train. Opposite is the beach and a short walk (approx 5 minutes) is the harbour.
Why then is it so difficult to book into this hotel I hear you ask and so I will tell you. The Hotel is a part of the Foxes Academy, a training academy for youngsters with learning disabilities and when the students go home to their families the hotel has to close.. Students are constantly supervised and offer the highest standards of service including a restaurant in the basement which provides for both Bed and Breakfast or Half Board accommodation.
If you have some time free and want a superb holiday in beautiful countryside (on the edge of Exmore National Park) and if you can find a time that the hotel is open but not already filled with the faithful who visit this hotel on a regular basis (which I am sure you will want to once you’ve tried it) I can strongly recommend trying The Foxes Hotel, Minehead.
