On a wet and dreary day we decided to drive to Derbyshire for a day out and after passing through Matlock and Cromford we came across Bonsall. A steep hill up to the village but well worth it. An interesting historical village with clean public toilets! A very informative map giving details of walks around the area showing the history a pub which was unfortunately closed but boast world championship hen racing !! Definitely one place to go back to and the most lovely tea room . It’s quite small but so friendly and welcoming. As it was December their Christmas menu was running.
We had Santa’s platter of home cooked meats including the most delicious pigs in blankets, salad, chutney, cranberry sauce and fabulous bread . They did have a vegetarian option and other hot and cold food available.
Staff were excellent and made feel at home and nothing was too much trouble. We will definitely visit again.
