With my business I visit so many "corporate" style hotels full of shiny counters, mirrors and uniformed regimented staff, when I go on holiday I like something different.
Forest Side is just that. Set just outside of Grasmere, it's small, secluded with loads of character and set in acres of the most beautiful scenery. The staff are human, friendly and helpful. The rooms are clean and welcoming. It's a little frayed around the edges in places but makes up for this with it's wonderful charm.
We enjoyed our time there and were encouraged to just the two comfortable lounges. The TV lounge had internet connection and plenty of seating. The other lounge was where guests could chat and at dusk each night watch the badgers come for scraps.
It was a great stay and we hope to go back soon.
