We decided that whilst visiting Bergen that we'd try out the funicular which would take us to the top of Floyen mountain. The funicular station was situated up a fairly steep street close to the water front in Bergen. We joined the queue early on to avoid the queues, which seemed a good plan. We bought the tickets and decided on the option of a single ticket, and to walk back down! It took just 7 mins to the top, having enjoyed the wonderful views out at the back of the funicular. At the top there was a magnificent viewing platform where we could admire spectacular views over the city, mountains and fjords. There were various hikes you could follow which took you back to Bergen. We enjoyed a leisurely walk down the mountain, which eventually led us to the old part of Bergen. It was a delightful trip, but a little tough on the knees. We came to the conclusion that the locals were very fit. Some were even walking up from the bottom of the mountain to the top, pushing buggies! Well done to them!
