Reasons for trip

Boston is wonderful, suitable for all ages, easy to get about by foot or public transport, the city and its history and we had a great time but… here's some information about a trip we took out of Boston: We visited Boston in October 2013, had a fabulous time, loved the city and its history. But…. we took the above Viator tour on 3rd October and feel we have to comment on it. We've tried advising Viator but, basically, their view seems to be, "so what". We'd arranged pick-up at Marriott Hotel, Copley Square. Eventually a coach arrived with a taciturn driver who grunted when we asked if this was our coach. We were driven to South Charles St., Gray Line Tour Office to "activate our tickets" and got back on the same coach with the same driver. Once we set off it was as if the driver had pressed a "happy" switch (great!!!) so we sat back to enjoy the trip. But see b) below.

Plus points: lovely colours and photo ops.

Minus points: a) Viator Trip advertises, "… before finishing your afternoon with a visit to an apple orchard to see how apples are grown and made into cider. Spend 30 minutes exploring the orchard with your guide and browsing the farm stand, picking out any fresh local items that catch your eye (own expense)". Yes, we visited the "farm shop" but no guided tour of the orchard, nothing showing "how apples are grown and made into cider"; an unhygienic uni-sex toilet facilities and, despite our driver rabbiting on about the venue giving us a "a free taste of cider" we found, on arrival that they had, "sold out". Overall, the trip was relaxing and interesting but don't advertise something you can't provide. b) Getting information from a coach driver en-route is fine but, frankly, it became wearisome as he tried to get "audience participation" going ad nauseam throughout the journey.

We will go back to Boston one day but we'd avoid the Viator Fall Foliage Spectacular.
