Relaxation

We stayed at the Fairmont Hotel in Singapore for three nights in March. It is a very conveniently situated hotel being over the top of a shopping centre and Metro station. We chose to stay in a club room as we always feel these are worth the extra money as they include breakfast, evening drinks and “nibbles”. As alcohol in Asian hotels is usually quite expensive it is pleasant to sit in a peaceful lounge for a couple of hours each evening and drink without bothering to think of the cost. The food supplied is often sufficient so that we do not need to find somewhere to eat in the evening and it was in this case. There was a very comprehensive choice of both food and drink and we enjoyed our early evenings.

The bedroom itself was on a corner of the building so we had good views in two different directions – one over the road and the side of Raffles then towards the Marine Gardens, the other over the old cathedral and surrounding area. It was a large, clean and modern room with a separate seating area and the bed was very comfortable. The only fault we could find was that it had one of the bedside panels which control everything and the curtain control part was distinctly erratic. Breakfast was excellent as was the service everywhere in the hotel.

We would be happy to stay there again on our next visit to Singapore.
