It saddens me to make this type of review as it's not positive and I have always tried to give constructive criticism. However, on this occasion I am not able to do this. While most of the people who live in Turkey made us very welcome and were kind and caring the hotel manager was NOT. This young woman was arrogant and rude. We spent 14 nights at the Faber Hotel and spent at least 3 nights without water, a nice day on the beach was ruined as when we got back to the apartment there was no bathing or toilet facilites. It caused mayhem with all of the people who stayed there. The situation was inflamed when one morning I saw a maintenance man arrive one morning and switch the water back on!!! when challenged about this hotel manager simply shrugged her shoulders and carried on as normal. When you think deeper about this situation you had to wonder how on earth they managed to wash the cutlery and plates etc that they used daily to serve paying guests who ate regularly at the hotel. My sister in law and her husband who we went with were extremely poorly for several days and were unable to use the toilet. I won't go into too much detail but you can imagine the embarrassment and upset this caused them. The apartment was cleaned every few days with the same dirty mop that I saw on the landing when we arrived there – filthy – I felt sorry for the bar staff as they obviously had to say what the manager told them to say, I assume if they went against anything she said then they might have lost their jobs and they are hard to find at the moment even in Turkey. The Faber had a 'pool party' one evening, families were there with young children and yet adults were allowed to get drunk (of course this is acceptable on holiday I'm not a prude in any way shape or form) and jump into the pool with – yes you've got it – their drinks in containers made of GLASS!!! which resulted in them smashing in the pool – health and safety went out of the window on that night!! Also, not being a good sleeper I was up most mornings around 5am sat on the verandah enjoying the peace and quiet. I noticed a lot of people getting up very early, putting their towels on sunbeds around the pool and going back to bed only arrive at the pool around lunchtime. We sat around the pool and on 1 occasion we went for a walk and came back a couple of hours later to find our towels and books stuck on the end of the bar. The staff admitted to moving our belongings because someone had complained!! The cheek of it, they lost all our respect then and we spent the rest of our holiday at the beach till early evening, this meant that they lost our custom at the bar during the day and the night, we simply gave up trying to make the most of this terrible nightmare and we were so glad to come home. It took us 6 weeks to recover from the stomach bugs etc that we brought home with us, so never again will I stay at the Faber, I would go back to Turkey but not there and it's such a shame because Icmeler is a very very beautiful place. It pains me to complain and as a group of 4 who travel together on holiday once a year and we never complain, we try to make the most of a bad situation but I have to say on this one we were beat, we simply gave up.
