Reasons for trip

Culture/Sightseeing

I travelled to Canada to explore the Rocky Mountains with solo holiday specialist, Just You. From start to finish I was impressed with the service and all-round experience. The itinerary was packed full of bucket-list items and the trip was extremely well organised and ran like clockwork.

The holiday started with a VIP Chauffeur Service which picked me up from home and transported me to the airport – it was a really nice start to the trip and took away all the hassle of driving and parking at the airport. On arrival in Calgary I was met by the trip leader and we made our way as a new group of fellow travellers to Banff. En route, Lezli the tour guide gave us some great information to set the scene for the trip and help us feel at ease as a group.

The next week was filled with one amazing experience after another. From the stunning scenery in Banff, to the unique glacier walking excursion, through to the breathtaking stop at Lake Louise. Canada as a destination certainly didn’t disappoint, it’s truly some of the most beautiful landscapes and picture-perfect views I have ever seen. The Rocky Mountains in particular definitely lived up to their reputation as a famously scenic holiday hotspot. We were lucky enough to spot some of the best wildlife in the area too – black bears, grizzly bears, elk, and moose – it was incredible to see in real life (well from the safety of the coach) and snap some memories.

There are a number of things which made the trip really special in my opinion. Firstly was the organisation from Just You, everything was made so easy for us as travellers, all we had to do was show up on time each morning and have a fantastic day. Transport, sorted. Tickets to attractions, sorted. Meals and restaurant reservations, sorted. It was honestly like having a travelling guardian angel taking care of all the finer arrangements and details. Secondly, the accommodation was a really good standard, and the best part was having a room to yourself, which is standard on all Just You trips. Whilst it is lovely to spend the day with fellow travellers and have someone to experiences the sights with, it is also really nice to be able to retreat back to your own room and have some ‘me time’ at the end of the day.

Finally, the trip was made all the more enjoyable thanks to the group of solo travellers who became more like friends by the end of the trip. There was a mix of first-time solo travellers and seasoned solo travellers (like me), but it didn’t take long for the group to gel and get to know each other. Sharing moments, such as a tipple of maple syrup whiskey on the freezing cold Athabasca Glacier, or a selfie at the top of Sulphur Mountain are made that little bit more memorable with like-minded travellers.
