Reasons for trip

Getting to another destination

Explorer of the seas has just been refitted -almost -a few cabins hadn’t been finished and there were a few teething problems, but luckily we weren’t affected. We enjoy cruising because of the excellent food, especially the NY steak, even in the main restaurant. Our waiters were hilarious, telling us tall stories over dinner which kept us entertained. All the staff were helpful and friendly.

We enjoyed the real strawberries and cream scones daily and our weight shot up.
Because the weather wasn’t great we kept ourselves amused by doing the quizzes and indoor activities like talks and going to the theatre shows in the evening. There was an excellent ice show -not easy when the ship was rolling.

The trips ashore were expensive, but you could use a shuttle bus (cost E8) in most places –and they did take mobility scooters.

Watch out for the discounts in the shops -don’t buy anything expensive until the last day when the discount is highest, which doesn’t seem fair to the early buyers.

The weather not being good the swimming pool was ice cold and most swimmers just used the Jacuzi’s to stay warm. Our trip to Loro Park in Tenerife was fantastic. We saw killer whales come up on a platform to perform only feet away from us.

Unforgettable.
