I recently visited Ely Cambridgeshire for 4 nights to hear a concert in the cathedral,the concert was fantastic in magnificent surroundings,Ely itself is a nice small city with a beautiful riverside walk ( Great Ouse ).I visited many pubs in the area for food and drink,the Cutter on the riverbank was exceptional for food and location,the townhouse in city center was full of characters with live music on Sunday afternoon and the Minster next to the Cathedral is very old with good selection of real ales,good food and even a ghost story on the wall ( i didn`t see one ).I stayed 3 miles in a village called Little Downham in the anchor,it was a village pub extended to the back into a hotel,the staff are very helpful and friendly,the room clean and comfortable.All in all i had a very enjoyable long weekend and will return to Ely.
