Relaxation

Welcoming reception area with staff that were all very helpful. Rooms are very much the same, so classic, superior are the same apart from a little more space and a slightly bigger bathroom. Some bathrooms have shower only so we asked if we could be moved and had a bath with shower over. Very clean but we found them a little soulless!

We did have sea views that were unspoilt and watching the sun go down was a very special treat. (Just remember to apply mosquito repellant as I had a couple of nasty bites).

Hotel was in a very quiet area, it stands on it’s own a short walk from the centre of Ialyssos, does have a couple of bar/restaurants near by and also small shop that sells most things and a beach shop.

Our first day was cloudy so we ventured up to the bus stop (about a 10 minute walk) to get the bus into Rhodes Old Town. Bus was a little crowded but only took about 15 minutes along the coast road.

Rhodes Old Town was lovely to walk round, lots of architecture to admire, old cobble lanes to explore. You did get a little hassle off cafe owners trying to lure you in but if you just keep walking you are fine. Some of the shops in this area are just geared for tourists and can be very repetitive. We found a lovely place to have lunch (sorry don’t know the name) we walked through a gate into a lovely yard with beautiful plants, food inexpensive but delicious.

Back at the Hotel we sunbathed on the sea front, lovely decking area overlooking the beach, which is pebbled … sea though crystal clear. This side of the island is breezy and geared up for wind surfers etc so although it was 25 degrees felt a little cooler.

We took to the pool area on other days which is slightly sheltered as it sits behind the hotel. Pool area was lovely, plenty of sun beds although not all with parasols.

Day time entertainment is geared up around the pool, the team was only small and always took ‘no thank you’ straight away. Yoga, volley ball, water polo etc.

We felt the biggest let down of this hotel was the main restaurant, felt like a canteen and food although plenty of variety was not of a great standard (I’ll just say at this point it does really depend on your standards of food!) The Italian, Chinese and Greek restuarants on site were all excellent and we tried to eat in them as much as we could. Also near the pool is a cafe which has drinks, pancakes, cookies, waffles, ice-creams always best to have a daily treat!!

2 bars at night – we sat in the quieter one which had some low key entertainment, classical guitar, piano player which was all of great quality. The other bar had the main entertainment which had tribute bands, karaokes, quizzes etc … we didn’t partake in this at all.

Lower floor had a gym, indoor pool, steam room and sauna and spa treatments. We had a massage although quite expensive was very good.

The cleanliness of this hotel was second to none and all the staff were always friendly and very helpful.

Children are welcome at this hotel, we travelled 30th April – 7th May and only had a handful of foreign children. Am sure in the height of summer it will be riddled with children!!!
